Monday’s Three Stars: ‘Monster’ blanks Isles; Dubnyk stops Sharks; Red Wings keep winning at home

Honorable mention: Goals from Jeff Skinner and Tim Brent were enough to squeeze out a 2-1 Carolina Hurricanes victory over the Winnipeg Jets. The win pulls Carolina within five points of Winnipeg in the Eastern Conference and gives the Canes eight wins in their last 11 at home. Cam Ward stopped 29 shots for his 18th win … Milestone games tonight: Scott Nichol (600), Chris Mason (300), Jiri Tlusty (200) … Jimmy Howard made 21 saves and got into a tiff at the end of the game as the Detroit Red Wings downed the St. Louis Blues 3-1. The win was Howard’s 30 of the year and Detroit’s 17th straight at Joe Louis Arena. Pavel Datsyuk picked up two points, which included this lovely backhander:

Burns reportedly walked to the Sharks’ bus without crutches and afterwards did not blame Hemsky … Chris Stewart received five for fighting, two for an instigator and a 10-minute misconduct for fighting Brad Stuart after this hit on Alex Pietrangelo:
