Deep Posts: It’s a bad week for injuries

• It seems like anyone who was waiting on injury news Monday got bad news. Kansas City quarterback Matt Cassel’s hand problem is worse than originally expected, and he could miss the rest of the season. Tyler Palko would be the starter.

• More significantly, Houston quarterback Matt Schaub will be in a walking boot for some time, and according to head coach Gary Kubiak, “will miss several weeks.” Playing in his stead would be Matt Leinart.

• The knee injury Denver running back Knowshon Moreno suffered turned out to be a torn ACL, and he will miss the rest of the season. That is not insignificant for the Broncos.

• One more injury note: Eric Wood, the standout center for the Buffalo Bills, tore his ACL, too.

• It doesn’t have anything to do with injury, but somehow, this news seems sad, too: Washington quarterback Rex Grossman will be keeping his job.

• The Titans said that they frustrated Panthers quarterback Cam Newton and “got in his head” on Sunday.

• The Detroit Lions made an awful lot of excuses about the wind.

• And, just because it feels like something that needs to be noted on Monday, here’s an examination of Andy Reid and his job status in Philadelphia.
